Get involved Jobs Cavern Manager The coffee shop functions as a regular coffee shop but with a difference! It offers work experience training for vulnerable and disadvantaged people including those with complex needs. It is also a community venue and safe place for young people, those with complex mental health needs and adults with learning difficulties who need support. The Cavern hosts a wide range of activities including live music, games nights, and an out of hours, non-clinical, mental health drop in. The Cavern is open 10am-11pm 6 days a week and 4pm-11pm on a Sunday so shift work will be required. The role is for 35 hours (7 hour shifts). Title of Role Cavern Manager Purpose of Role To oversee the smooth running of The Cavern. This includes driving sales and thinking creatively, ensuring compliance with policies, effective management of staff and staff training, and managing challenging behaviour. Main Activities/Tasks To run the coffee shop when you are on shift including serving customers and maintaining the cleanliness of the environment To competently and confidently deal with customer complaints To be able to adhere to cash handling procedures such as cashing up, putting money in the safe, problem solving on the till, and so on To have a full understanding of stock takes, booking in new stock, and our policy on returns To develop an understanding of bringing in new systems and processes to ensure a smoother running of the Cavern To oversee the development and training of our team of volunteers To empower, encourage and equip our staff team To bring a confidence and energetic dynamic to the team To manage the environment, including dealing with any challenging behaviour To build positive relationships with those that attend The Cavern regularly To be reactive and responsive to every situation that arises, and to reflect on how to prevent other situations from escalating To work within, and promote, all policies, procedures and Health and Safety To work with the Directors within their direction of leadership Training Full training will be given during induction and on an ongoing basis, however experience of training others, retail, challenging behaviour, management and leadership, and/or health and social care will be an advantage.
