Job Summary

The Youth Support at the Cavern Lead will be based at Treasure Seekers/The Cavern building in Gloucester City Centre.

Our team of support workers provide a listening ear and facilitate a safe place to provide early intervention and prevention work for young people with mental health issues, as well as signposting them into services. The lead will be responsible for overseeing several staff and the service it delivers, as well as supporting young people to access other services where needed.
The role is for 25 hours (3 x 5 hour evening shifts 5-10pm, and 10 hours admin/youth support).

Purpose of Role

To oversee the smooth running of our mental health drop in, providing a listening ear and facilitating a safe space for young people with mental health issues. This can range from conversations, guidance and support, and activities.

Main Activities/Tasks

  • To oversee and manage the staff rota (accounting for holidays and sickness)
  • Supporting the team with debriefs, general ongoing support, and team meetings
  • Ensuring all the staff training is up to date
  • Point of contact for any concerns from the service users
  • Attending staff meetings
  • Point of contact for external agencies
  • Attending multi agency meetings
  • Marketing support at the cavern
  • To support and engage with those attending the mental health drop in.
  • To manage the environment, including dealing with any challenging behaviour
  • To ensure young people are being referred into relevant agencies for support
  • To work within, and promote, all policies, procedures and Health and Safety
  • To assist with maintaining a clean and tidy environment
  • To have a basic understanding of mental health.

Training

Full training will be given during induction and on an ongoing basis, however experience of mental health, young people, leadership, and/or health and social care will be an advantage.

Location

The Cavern, 56 Westgate Street, Gloucester, GL1 2NF and at various other locations as the needs of the business required

£11 per hour

Experience:

  • Mental health: 2 years (preferred)
  • Leadership: 3 years (preferred)
