Support at The Cavern moved back to face to face contact on 4th December. We continued to offer phone support to those unable to attend in person. We saw a slightly reduced but steady number of people each evening and those that attended during the month of December really appreciated a safe place to come and spend time, even though it was very chilly as we needed to keep the doors open under current COVID19 guidelines!

During December, we saw several new sign ups joining us, either in person or accessing by phone and we supported several other members of the community to access emergency accommodation for the night and to access food parcels by linking up with other local services like the out of hours adult social care team and GFTH.

We managed to keep our doors physically open long enough to provide face to face support over Christmas Day and Boxing day. The support team did an amazing job at helping to make what can be a really challenging time for so many of our guys a happier time and for some people, it was the only in person contact they had on Christmas Day.

From the 27th December, Support at The Cavern has moved back to a phone and web chat service and we are continuing to keep good contact with our regulars and others that find the lockdown restrictions particularly challenging.

As a team, we are looking forward in 2021 to a time when we can keep our face to face contact service as an uninterrupted one and get back to running some of our group activities that both staff and our guests enjoy doing together.
